Rausch 1

  • Theater an der Ruhr Mülheim Germany (map)

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Theater an der Ruhr is one of the most influential – but maybe internationally lesser known – German theatres. Its Italian founder Roberto Ciulli, pioneered internationalism and interculturalism through making theatre from a migrant’s perspective and engaging in cultural exchanges with Turkey, Iraq, Iran, South America and many other countries since the 80ies. It is now presenting a  new radical season under a new artistic concept and new team in this groundbreaking theatre’s over 40-year history. Central is still Roberto Ciulli, who  – now aged 89(!)– will be directing his latest creation inspired by his life-long fascination with Antonin Artaud.

Rausch (a wonderfully evocative, yet un-translatable German word: meaning rapture & ecstasy but also intoxication as well as the sound of waves and rustling of leaves) is a new dense season of new works commissioned by Theater an der Ruhr consists of four premieres, interactive installations, music, DJs, networking – all set in the idyllic parkland of a former spa in Germany’s industrial heritage city Mülheim.  Conceived and led by Artistic Director Sven Schlötcke, artists from different generations and disciplines were invited to develop new works, concepts and performance models exploring Rausch in all its aspects: trance, losing oneself, altered states, new consciousness and the thrill and joy to let loose.
